MelodicRock Classics rinnova la collaborazione con la famiglia del compianto Van Stephenson – oltre che con i suoi numerosi co-autori e partner musicali – per rendere omaggio ancora una volta all’eredità del leggendario cantante/songwriter/polistrumentista con la pubblicazione della compilation a 2 CD, Van’s Verions.

La raccolta include canzoni scritte o co-scritte da Van e precedentemente registrate e pubblicate altrove, e sono tutte tratte dagli archivi personali del vocalist.

Il proprietario di MRC, Andrew McNeice, commenta: “L’idea per questa compilation è nata mentre stavo lentamente esaminando tutti gli archivi demo di Van. E’ già noto a tutti quale fantastico songwriter e cantante fosse, ma sono rimasto piacevolmente sorpreso da quanti suoi pezzi ci sono che altri artisti hanno registrato. Quando hai musicisti del calibro di Eric Clapton, Laura Branigan, Kenny Rogers, Dan Seals, Juice Newton e Restless Heart che scelgono le tue canzoni da registrare, allora devi apprezzare quanto sono belle quelle canzoni e l’importanza di metterle in evidenza”.

E prosegue: “Ho pensato che una bella idea sarebbe stata quella di mettere tutti questi pezzi in una compilation, che si è trasformata in un set di 41 canzoni a doppio CD. Il set presenta i vari stili musicali per i quali Van ha scritto nel corso degli anni, inclusi Pop, AOR, Rock, Midwest e Country”.

Per completare il pacchetto, l’artwork è stato appositamente commissionato al graphic artist francese Arnaud Leger; inoltre, l’audio di entrambi i dischi è stato accuratamente restaurato e rimasterizzato dall’acclamato produttore Jeff K. Northrup.
