Destroyer è stato originariamente pubblicato nel 1976 ed è considerato uno degli album dei KISS per eccellenza. E’ il primo disco della band ad aver venduto un milione di copie nel suo primo anno e detiene il titolo di loro studio album più venduto di tutti i tempi.

Ricco di brani da concerto e pezzi preferiti dalla KISS Army – tra cui Detroit Rock City, Shout It Out Loud, God Of Thunder e Beth – il 19 Novembre UMe pubblicherà Destroyer 45th Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition in 4 CD + Cofanetto Audio Blu-ray e su vinile doppio nero standard e vinile doppio colore giallo e rosso in edizione limitata, set da 2 CD e digitale.

Per la registrazione di Destroyer, Bob Ezrin era stato chiamato come nuovo produttore dei KISS, il che aiutò il gruppo a raggiungere nuovi livelli, sia dal punto di vista sonoro che creativo. L’album aveva anche mostrato la crescita della band come musicisti e songwriter, sperimentando nuovi suoni che arrivavano sotto forma del lato più rock di canzoni come Do You Love Me? e altre più soft con arrangiamenti orchestrali, tra cui Great Expectations ed il singolo da settimo posto nelle classifiche di Billboard, Beth.

Dopo il successo clamoroso di Alive! – numero 9 di Billboard del 1975 – Destroyer è stato l’album che ha portato i KISS in prima linea nel mainstream e li ha trasformati in icone rock mondiali. Per il suo Anniversario, UMe celebra l’eredità di questo disco seminale con una quantità impressionante di materiale bonus.

Il CD1 include il full-length originale appena rimasterizzato all’Abbey Road Mastering, mentre il CD2 contiene 15 demo tratti dagli archivi personali di Paul Stanley e Gene Simmons, di cui 9 inediti. Il CD3 è ricco di outtake in studio, versioni/mix alternativi e singoli edit, in particolare un nuovissimo stripped-down mix di Beth (Acoustic Mix), mentre il CD4 contiene una performance elettrizzante della visita della band a Parigi all’Olympia il 22 Maggio 1976.

Per il disco Audio Blu-ray, Steven Wilson è stato chiamato a creare il primo Dolby Atmos ed un mix surround 5.1 dell’album originale, più due bonus track – Beth (Acoustic Mix) e Sweet Pain (Original Guitar Solo) – quest’ultima con l’assolo di chitarra originale registrato di Ace Frehley che non è stato pubblicato nel disco finale (questa traccia è disponibile nel progetto Destroyer: Resurrected del 2012).

Infine, la confezione Super Deluxe contiene una stravagante gamma di cimeli e oggetti da collezione dei KISS, tra cui una ricreazione completa del KISS Army Kit con la cartella originale e varie altre cose interessanti.
