Joe Satriani: tutti i dettagli del nuovo Shapeshifting; online il brano Nineteen Eighty

Il nuovo studio album di Joe Satriani, Shapeshifting, uscirà il 10 Aprile tramite Sony Music/Legacy Recordings; il primo singolo, Nineteen Eighty, è già disponibile su tutte le piattaforme di streaming ed è ascoltabile nel player sottostante.

Il celebre chitarrista americano ha arruolato una vasta gamma di collaboratori, sia vecchi che nuovi, per aiutarlo a dare vita alle canzoni. Il leggendario batterista Kenny Aronoff (John Fogerty), il bassista Chris Chaney (Jane’s Addiction) ed il tastierista Eric Caudieux sono tra i musicisti principali, con contributi aggiuntivi provenienti da Lisa Coleman (The Revolution) e Christopher Guest.

Il sound retrò del brano Nineteen Eighty vede Satriani rivisitare spiritualmente il periodo in cui stava lavorando con la sua prima band, gli Squares. Rimanendo fedele ai suoni del tempo, Joe ha persino usato un phaser MXR EVH vintage: “Sono sempre stato un grande fan di Eddie Van Halen”, ha affermato. “Nella mia mente, lui ha proprio cristallizzato quell’era. Tra la fine degli anni Settanta e gli inizi degli Ottanta, ha salvato la chitarra rock. Questo è quello che avrei fatto anch’io”.

Shapeshifting è stato co-prodotto da Satriani e Jim Scott (Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers) con il socio di lunga data John Cuniberti, che gestisce anche i compiti di mastering.

Previsto anche un Tour di promozione, che vedrà il musicista statunitense in Italia per ben sei date.
