Interview by Alessandro Lifonti
MR: Hi David, welcome to MelodicRock.it!
DR: Hi Alessandro, I’m glad to answer your questions!
MR: David, you recorded too many albums and played with too many bands to mention them all so I’d just like to talk about some of them. Let’s start with Accept. You sang on the “Eat the heat” album. How did it feel to be part of such a great band? What’s your best memory and what’s your worst one If there’s any bad from that Experience?
DR: My best Memory is when Wolf called me while I was living in Colorado, it was frightening yet exciting! Also flying to Germany was incredible for a young country boy! The bad memories are many. Accept are a tight nit operation, it’s impossible for someone to be an actual member or penetrate that shield they have around them.
MR: When you hear rock fans talking about music , they all agree that “On Target” by Bangalore Choir is a masterpiece. In your opinion why the album is that special? Of course there are great tracks on it, but besides that what really makes the difference?
DR: Bangalore Choir first has great songs! We were focused on this above anything else at the time. Curt Mitchell and everyone also are extremely great players, incidentally were doing a reunion festival in 2017 in America at Rocknskull. Also I’ll re-release On Target on a limited vinyl colored and test pressing too next year I’m sifting through old demos that didn’t make the record to add as bonus tracks as well.
MR: With Bonfire you recorded an awesome album + another double one with the classic Bonfire songs re- recorded with you on vocals. What’s the bright side of your experience with the band?
DR: Glorious was my baby its an awesome record that I put together basically from scratch because musically the Roughs weren’t very good so I really needed to reach inside myself to complete it and I think I did! It charted all over Europe very well and we toured very heavy on the record. As far as the double record to be honest I had some highlights on it but Claus is truely the singer of those songs so although I performed well those are his songs vocally!
MR: We know you recently joined your forces with our fellow mates Mario Percudani, Stefano Scola, and Alessandro Mori. There’s a new band on the way and it is called RPG. Can you give the fans further information?
DR: It’s very organic very hard rock and bluesy, with very catchy hooks and a lot of colors musically. Also they are brilliant musicians and beautiful people so I’m excited to do an album with them because the songs are great!
MR: You just toured the UK with RPG. Did you enjoy the british tour and are there any other new dates in sight?
DR: It was very humbling and insane many great people and great live shows! I look forward to returning soon very very soon!
MR: Is David Reece involved in any other new projects besides RPG?
DR: I’m actually getting ready to record an album with Frank Pane’ from Bonfire we remain very close and have written a monster of a record! It’s called Sainted Sinners it features players such as Ferdy on keys and guitar from Axel Pell and Malte from Beast on bass and Berci from Perpendicular on drums it’s going to be great!
MR: Your last solo album compromise was released in 2013. It’s a bit different from the Bangalore choir and Bonfire style. Do you agree on that and are you considering to record a new one in the future?
DR: It’s actually one of my favorites personnaly and yes Andy Susemihl and I are writing for another release now!
MR: I am a huge fan of Ez Livin’. The Firestorm album released in 2014 is real good. Would you like to tell us more about it?
DR: It was actually the one that opened the doors to joining Bonfire and getting to tour which for me is actually what playing rock and roll is really about.
MR: We know you’ve been living in Italy for a while. Was it tough to leave your country and settling down here?
DR: No at all! I love ITALY and its people! Also I’m married to a beautiful Italian woman and couldn’t be happier!
MR: David, thank you so much for your time. We’re looking forward to seeing you around!
DR: Thank you very much for this opportunity to speak with you see you on the road!
Reece
