MR: It was about time to interview one of the best bass players in the melodic rock scene. Hi Bruno, thank you for answering our questions and welcome to melodicrock.it!
BR: My pleasure Alessandro!
MR: Not many people know that you played bass for White Lion in the early days. When and how did you join the band? Are there any behind the scenes to tell?
BR: Greg D’Angelo and I are great friends, and when Dave Spitz left the band, he called me and asked if I wanted in. I knew of the band because I saw a very early incarnation of the band and thought Mike Tramp was a star, so I was intrigued. Of course there are behind the scenes stories to tell, but I’ll save them for the book!
MR: In the late 90’s you were part of the supergroup called Westworld featuring Tony Harnell, Mark Reale, John O’ Reilly, and you of course. The band released three great albums. What happened then? Did you guys officially split up?
BR: We never split up. Westworld was a side project. All of us were busy with our other bands and after the third record, we weren’t in a rush to do another, but kept the door open. That was until the great Mark Reale passed. That made it weird for us to continue, but again, the door is always open to revisiting that band.
MR: You guested on Warrant’s cherry pie album, and on a few TNT’s albums. Do you consider to do something like that again in the future?
BR: I’m a musician… love creating, recording, and performing so whenever there’s a opportunity to do so that is fun, I’m in!
MR: Danger Danger is probably one of the greatest melodic rocks bands around. A lot of things happened along all these years but you are still together. Can the fans expect a new DD album in the near future?
BR: Thank you! I’m not sure if there will be another D2 album, but I’m hopeful that it will happen.
MR: A couple of months ago you started a brand new band with Paul Laine and Rob Marcello. The band is called the defiants and you guys just released your first album. Who came up with the idea of this new band?
BR: Serafino Perugino was the catalyst, and we’re all happy that it happened!
MR: Would you like to describe the album to the fans? Songwriting, lyrics, production….anything you want!
BR: It’s aggressive, loud, catchy melodic rock, done right!
MR: Lately you came to play to the Frontiers rock festival here in Italy. Did you enjoy playing our country and would you like to say anything to the italian fans?
BR: I always enjoy and look forward to performing in Italy. The passion the fans have for the music is unsurpassed, and I feel it as soon as I arrive! Mille Grazie!!
MR: Are you going to play any more gigs in the future as the defiants?
BR: We hope so!
MR: If you could choose five musicians (singer, guitar player, bass player, keyboard player, and drummer) for a new melodic/hard rock band and you can’t name any DD members, who would you choose?
BR: Ouch! That question is way too tough! There are too many to mention so I’ll pass on this one!
MR: Bruno, thank you so much for your time. We hope to see you in Italy soon again.
BR: Thanks!! Hope to see you ll soon too!! Ciao
