A couple of weeks ago we got a cool promo from a new band called Epic (here the review in Italian). The singer Tanya Rizkala kindly answered our questions.

MR: Tanya, welcome to melodicrock.it! How did you and the other guys started the band? And who are the other members of the band?
TR: Mario Agostine the guitarist & I have collaborated for many years now writing & composing. We had formed other bands too & have seen members come and go. EPIC was formed in 2011 and is now complete with the arrival of a Rock solid rythm section: Souheil Moukaddem aka “Sous” on Drums & Mike Ganime on Bass.

MR: Your debut album is called “Like a Phoenix”! I would say it is a melodic metal cd. How would you describe it?
TR: I actually really like how you described it Alessandro!
Fits our album perfectly!
I would also add that our album “Like a phoenix” can be seen through the lyrics as a message of hope and strength to those who really need it and we wanted to make sure that the new generation receive those positive vibes, to always learn to fight and survive, thus never give up no matter how many times life might bring you down and to never forget that LOVE is the key.

MR: Who took care of the songwriting and how long did it take to record the whole album?
TR: All songs are written & composed by Mario Agostine & myself. The recording was done in a few months.

MR: The album was mixed by our fellow Alessandro Del Vecchio. How did you get in touch with Alessandro, and in your opinion did he improve the record with his job?
TR: Alessandro Del Vecchio, the music wizard himself! Alessandro was recommended to us through a very dear & close friend of mine Ray Kruijen.
And It was musical love at 1st sight honestly! Working with Alessandro is every musician’s dream both artistically and socially!
His immense talent, loving personnality & vision added the right amount of magic to the album!

MR: You recently signed a brand new record deal with a mighty label. Could you give us further information?
TR: We have launched our album “Like A Phoenix late December. We are blessed to be signed by worldwide leading Rock Label ESCAPE almost a month later ! We are very proud to be part of the ESCAPE family. Huge thanks to Khalil Turk & Barrie Kirtley for their amazing Faith & Support!
The official release date of ” Like A Phoenix ” will be 22 APRIL 2016.

MR: Are some live shows already planned?
TR: We have an upcoming short tour this summer in Germany & in the Netherlands if all goes as planned…
among other shows that we will announce in due time.

MR: We know that Terry Ilous (XYZ, Great White) and you are good friends. Would like to tell us what happened last year?
TR: Terry Ilous is a very dear friend of mine. One of the warmest, powerful & most sensual Rock voices out there!
Terry had an acoustic European tour with Jeff Scott Soto & Jorge salan last year. He invited me to join them as a guest on stage while in Europe. I chose Belgium & the Netherlands. Absolutely rockin’ times!
